In the past 10 years, Malden has experienced great changes and growth in its population, economy, transportation, and culture. Malden’s population has grown by almost 10% in the past 10 years. This growth is attributed to the city’s close proximity to Boston and the availability of comparatively affordable housing. The population growth has brought an influx of new businesses and services to the area.

The city has become a hub for technology, healthcare, and education. Many new businesses have opened in Malden Center that highlight the diversity of its residents; in particular the vast array of cuisines found in the many restaraunts in and around Malden Center. Some of my favorites are Crying Thaiger, Faces Brewing and Hugh O'Neill's Irish Pub and Sun Kong for dim sum!

Malden boasts a great network of busses and is served by two Orange Line stops. The Orange Line connects Malden to downtown Boston in only 15 minutes - when the slow downs aren't in effect! You can also get on the commuter rail from Malden and Melrose as well.

The city has become even more of a hub for art, music, and entertainment in the past decade. The city hosts a variety of festivals, concerts, and other events throughout the year. Additionally, the city has a vibrant nightlife with numerous bars and restaurants, including two of the best breweries around; Idle Hands and Faces Brewing! Malden is home to the popular Malden Center for Arts & Culture, which is a multi-use facility for visual and performing arts.

Overall, Malden has undergone remarkable changes in the past 10 years. The city has seen an increase in housing, in businesses and services, and an improved transportation system. The city is an ideal destination for those looking for more affordable suburban living with convenient access to the city of Boston.
